Thailand Approves Revised Visa-Exemption Framework
On 14 July 2026, Thailand’s Cabinet approved in principle a revised visa-exemption and visa-issuance framework.
The existing 60-day visa exemption for nationals of 93 countries and territories is expected to be discontinued. Under the proposed framework:
- Nationals of 59 countries and territories will be eligible for visa-free entry for tourism purposes for up to 30 days
- Nationals of Mauritius and Seychelles will be eligible for up to 15 days
- Visa on Arrival will be limited to nationals of Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia
- Indian nationals will move from Visa on Arrival to visa-exempt status
Travellers who entered Thailand before the new measures take effect may remain for the period originally granted.
The changes are not yet effective. They will take effect 15 days after the relevant Ministry of Interior notifications are published in the Royal Gazette.
