World Creativity and Innovation Day 2022

21 April 2022

World Creativity and Innovation Day is April 21, 2022. (WCID). The United Nations has designated this day to raise awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation in all facets of human development.

This is the first year that BDO in Thailand is joining the movement committed to raise awareness about the value of creativity and innovation in improving our firm and our people.

As a firm, we believe that success depends on agility and adaptation—for our clients as well as ourselves. We embrace the idea that innovation is crucial in harnessing the best client-servicing potential of our firm and for our people.

Here are some insights from our leadership team on how BDO in Thailand gives better solutions for our clients through creativity and innovation.

Peter Sheville, BSO Partner

Creativity and innovation are essential to enable a business to grow. You must ensure your team has inclusion of personalities who are creative and innovative and natural skills to facilitate an environment of where this becomes a natural part of the business.

As a leadership team in BSO we have a good understanding of the different personalities of the leadership team, which is the starting point. We then ensure those who are naturally good at this are recognized and enabled to be lead in this area.

We also try and identify those within the team likely to have similar traits and interest to participate in this area. The main benefit is that we start to identify solutions for how we do things internally, which can have flow on benefits for clients in some cases.

We also consider new ways for clients to approach how they do things and interact with us to produce an easier way of doing business. These include workflow solutions that are more automated and use of portal to exchange and share information.

Ishan Shah, Tax and Legal Director

Creative and innovative thinking is at the core of our approach to assisting clients.

Globally, all tax authorities are formulating new tax mechanisms to adapt to the changing business scenario. With the use of creative, innovative technology and data analysis, we are able to provide useful solutions to help our clients make informed decisions.

Matthew Cutt, Advisory Partner

In order to promote creative thinking and innovation business leaders need to listen and be agile enough to react and seize opportunities that transpire as a result.

This is no different to how we operate with our clients. Through listening and reflecting on client needs we strive to produce innovative solutions. This starts right at the beginning of our people journey. We believe that by empowering our staff at all levels to contribute ideas and a strive for diversity within our team helps us make a real difference to our clients.
